A coming of age story mainly focuses on the development of a character from the beginning to end. It can be a variety of things such as transitioning from a teenager to an adult, but during the development, many adventures and painful lessons are learned. Charlie Kelmeckis from the novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower written by Stephen Chbosky, and Scotty Smalls from the film The Sandlot directed by David Evans, represent the metamorphic transitions of the mind, body, and soul which all take part in a coming of age. As stated, developing a personality trait is a very important aspect of coming of age in the state of mind. In Charlie‘s case it can be shown that he had no companions at the beginning of his freshman year in high school.†¦show more content†¦His friend Benny Rodriguez taught him how to play and improve in baseball. All through the summer, his skills in the sport progressed. Everyone was proud of his success and through Scotty’s journey, his group of friends were there supporting him along the way. Although Charlie and Scotty overcame many obstacles while adapting to new changes, they sometimes did not believe in themselves. At the start of the film, Scotty was narrating a portion saying, â€Å"I moved to the neighborhood two weeks before school let out. It should have started off with loads of great things happening for me, but it didnt.. it was a lousy way to start the fifth grade† He was implying that he wasnt delighted at the fact that he didnt have any friends, and hinted that he desperately wanted to flip the problem and start making changes that would influence him in an exceptional way. Charlie had a similar situation because when he first met his friends Sam and Patrick, they all attended a party after a football game, and at the party Charlie got drunk and confessed some of his past while making his friends feel sympathetic towards him. This made Sam and Patrick feel worried for him, so both of them decided to impact Charlie in a supportive way to make him feel valuable and welcome. The first diary entry that relates to my life is number 61. This diary entry is about a teenage girl that was in class and they were discussing the double standards for men and women. They listed some examples like a man can get away with whatever they want, but when a woman does the same, then they get degraded. Ms. G introduced the word misogyny which is the hatred or dislike of women or girls. I have same views and I can connect to what the female in this dairy entry is saying. I can connect because in history women have been left out and put down because they have something that men don’t. That shouldn’t make them different from anyone else. They are also seen as sexual objects in music videos and in lyrics of songs which should be stopped. A woman once said, Women should have equal rights. Sexual preference should not matter. Gender roles should be eliminated. Self expression should be limitless. That quote should be spread to every man and woman because in this day and age we need equality, not just based on our gender. But rather in other things such as race/ethnic background, religion, sexual orientation, and etc. Another thing is items and clothing and what’s â€Å"acceptable† for females. For example, there was a woman flying from Las Vegas and she was confronted by an airline employee for showing too much cleavage. One Idea that I find significant from the article Is Music a Good Tool for Health, is Hospitals are beginning to use music therapy to help with pain management, depression, to promote movement, to calm patients, to ease muscle tension, and other benefits. In other words, music is beginning to have an important roll for different treatments in hospitals, by helping patients who suffers of different illnesses. One example that supports this idea is when I got pneumonia, two years ago. I had to stay in the hospital for like about two to three weeks, but the idea of staying there for that long was already killing me. The first two days were the worst days of my life, I remember how I didnt even want to eat, and because of that my defense was going down and down, which was not good at all for my illnesses. However, since I had a studio recording I used to make beats, so I asked my brother to synchronize my pad with some of the projects I have done it, and bring it to me. Once I got it I downloaded a beats maker application named Fruit Loops Mobile , which I was going to use to work with the projects I had. For example the gym center they play fast track music or something that motivate people in the gym to do more exercise and lose more weight which eventually lead them to live a better healthy ivies in a yoga center also its plays calm music which help people to move their bodies gently and slowly to ease their muscle and reduce their stress level. Music therapy have so many benefits these day that why thats why every hospital is now using it to help their patients. Another benefit is using therapy when patient are in pain listen to music it helps them forget that they in pain especially when its a music that they like. For example when I have headache and listen to my favorite music it ease my muscle and help me roger about my pain because at that time I would be thinking about dreaming about something really nice. Another benefit using music in our lives is that it help us focus. As Elizabeth Scott say faster beats bring sharper concentration and more alert thinking that make sense because I remember my high school teacher told me about hes learning technique he told us in our class that when he was a student he could only learn and concentrate on his subject when he listen to loud and fast music he believed that that fast and Lund music help him learn faster and easier. However its the opposite ways for some people. Some people learn faster and easier when they listen to slow music because it help me for example I learn faster and easier when I listen to slow music because it help me to concentrate. Music have so many benefits that everybody is using to help them through their pain whether its related to the bodies or the mind.
